Curriculum and Teaching Methodology

We implement the curriculum prescribed by the Government of Nepal in-corporating other referential texts to enhance the holistic development of students in basic skills of life. Major subjects are English, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies and Nepali language. Languages are taught in communicative approach in a real life situation in and outside the class helping students develop all four language skills using ample audio visuals. Other subjects are taught giving due importance to demonstration, observation, field trips, discussion, problem solving and social services. They are supported by project works, club activities and practical tests. Kavya believes in a blend of the existing traditional methods and progressive thematic students centered methods. Each class is assigned a well selected theme for a particular period of time and the completion of the theme will be observed by the parents, teachers and other students so as to encourage them in their studies. Therefore Kavya ensures Participatory, thematic and progressive student friendly teaching learning environment joined with an amazing mix of cultures and traditions, enhances the warm, caring institution, which embraces a child at the same time permits them the freedom to develop and realize their full potential.

Class Size and Faculty

Kavya’s average class size is 24-28 students:
(24 in the junior and 28 in the senior classes).
Kavya has qualified and competent faculty members who have taught at various reputed schools in the valley for more than 10 years. Apart from playing the role of the teachers they also serve as educator, advisers, regularly interacting closely with students in all aspects of their school life.

School Hours

Kavya runs normal school classes from 8 a.m. in the morning. The regular Academic classes end at 2 p.m. After having Tiffin at 2:00p.m., there are regular extra Curricular activities. We encourage students to partake in different club activities of their choices.

Coeducation

Moving ahead together
We believe that much growth occurs through the interaction of peers. We strive to create an interesting vital mix in our student population. We actively seek students who bring different geographic, economic, social, ethnic, and racial backgrounds to our community. We also believe students at this age benefit from a coeducational learning environment. At Kavya - as in the real world - both girls and boys occupy leadership positions within the school and participate fully in the life of the school. All Kavya students benefit from the global and cultural perspectives that our boarding students bring.

Technology

With a view to equipping students with modern technology, we have integrated ICT into our education system. Students are invariably exposed to internet, computer lab, Science lab, Language and Mathematics Lab as demanded by the class. Our students will work in different Collaborative projects in ENO (Environment Online) and iEARN (International Education and Resource Network), the virtual schools with students from different schools all over the world. This enables teachers and the students to use the Internet and other technologies to collaborate on projects that enhance learning and make a difference in the world.

After School Activities

Beyond Books and Classes
All Kavya students are required to participate in the afternoon activities when the academic day ends. In addition to athletics, we also offer varieties of activities that meet a variety of individual interests. We offer dance, music, singing, art& craft, drama, yoga, sports and scouting in a regular schedule and club activities; Eco, social service, cultural, quiz, elocution, E- club and various subjective clubs every Friday.

Tuition Assistance
